Hoya Heart
Scientific Name: Hoya kerrii
Common Name: Hoya Heart, Sweetheart Plant, Valentine Hoya, Wax Plant
Hoyas are well-loved by many plant collectors around the world. They originate from many Asian countries and some variations hail from Australia. They are climbing/vining plants and in nature are often found living their best life on trees. Hoyas generally have thick, succulent leaves and mature plants can have vines that can be well over 10 feet long.
The Hoya Heart is notoriously slow-growing, so most people have only seen them as one or two leaves (often around Valentine's Day!). Many of these plants will stay this size their whole life, making it the perfect gift for those who have limited space as well.
Basic Care: Hoyas need very well-draining soil and since they are a succulent, they will absorb water into their leaves to hold on to. Water when soil is completely dry. Hoyas love bright light, but can tolerate low light as well.
