Sundew
Scientific Name: Drosera
Common Name: Sundew
What's better than an indoor plant? An indoor plant that loves to eat bugs! The carnivorous sundew plant has long, skinny leaves that unfurl like a tentacle from a central rosette. Each leaf has reddish sticky "hairs" that ooze tiny drops of dew to capture and digest small insects, such as gnats. The leaves emerge from rosettes, curl around their prey, and unfurl to reset the trap, a process that takes between four and six days.
Basic Care: Sundew plants prefer humidity, and need distilled water. We bottom water our carnivorous plant selection with distilled water. For soil, you can use a mixture of peat moss and perlite. You can also use a standard carnivorous plant soil mix, or live sphagnum moss.
