The tradition of ferns as houseplants gained popularity in the mid- to late-1840's when wealthy homeowners would decorate their homes with them. Since then, ferns have become far more accessible and are very popular additions to indoor plant collections around the world. Ferns can give your indoor (and outdoor) space a touch of tropical or evergreen forest vibes. An added bonus is that nearly all ferns are fairly low maintenance and can thrive in a variety of indoor conditions. 

Cretan Brake Ferns are an interesting member of the fern family. Their fronds look almost palm frond-like and some split at the ends to add to this look. New stems come out curly and unfurl as they mature. These will do well in terrariums and love humidity. 

Basic Care Notes: Low to medium indirect light, keep evenly moist but not saturated. Ferns prefer humidity, but don't want to be soaking wet, either. Think forest floor-conditions, dappled lighting, natural humidity.
