Cast Iron Plant
Scientific Name: Aspidistra elatior
Common Name: Cast Iron Plant
The Cast Iron Plant comes by its name honestly, as it is famously tolerant of a variety of environmental conditions and thrives on a tad bit of neglect. It gained popularity as a houseplant during Victorian times and has remained a classic addition to indoor spaces around the world.
Basic Care Notes: Cast Iron Plants can handle low light conditions but will also do well in brighter (indirect) light. They prefer to be watered infrequently, so allow the soil to dry out between waterings. Be careful not to overwater, they do not do well in soggy soil, and are susceptible to root rot if they are left with "wet feet" for too long.
Note: We just repotted our "Milky Way" Cast Iron Plants up into 6" pots from 4" pots, so they are currently a little smaller than the solid green variation, which is reflected in the price difference.
***Due to the unique nature of plants, the one we carefully choose for you won't look exactly like the photos. but it will be just as beautiful!
