Cyclamen
Scientific Name: Cyclamen persicum
Common Name: Cyclamen, Alpine Violet
The Cyclamen's blooming cycle naturally occurs in late fall and winter, and as a result became a popular houseplant to give as a gift during the holidays. They are relatively easy to care for and can thrive indoors year-round, so if you are looking for a thoughtful host/hostess gift for that holiday party, look no further!
Cyclamen bloom in a variety of colors such as red, white, pink, light purple and magenta. Their adorable blooms are shaped like butterflies, and their heart-shaped foliage is a beautiful deep green with unique silver variegations, so even when this plant is not in bloom, it is still a lovely addition to a houseplant collection.
Basic Care Notes: Bright indirect light, water from the bottom when mostly dry. Cyclamen like consistently moist soil, but are susceptible to root rot and hate getting their leaves wet so watering from the top can be tricky. Humidity is not necessary, but is definitely appreciated.
