Scientific Name: Platycerium bifurcatum
Common Name: Staghorn Fern

The tradition of ferns as houseplants gained popularity in the mid- to late-1840's when wealthy homeowners would decorate their homes with them. Since then, ferns have become far more accessible and are very popular additions to indoor plant collections around the world. Ferns can give your indoor (and outdoor) space a touch of tropical or evergreen forest vibes. An added bonus is that nearly all ferns are fairly low maintenance and can thrive in a variety of indoor conditions.

The Staghorn Fern is an epiphytic fern and is as an indoor plant they can be mounted on the wall (with some moss or other growing medium to support it). It actually has two different types of fronds, an infertile one to protect the root ball and the other is the fertile frond. The infertile fronds are smaller and round, and the fertile fronds are the ones that develop into the longer "staghorn" shape.

Basic Care Notes: Low to medium indirect light, keep evenly moist but not saturated. Ferns prefer humidity, but don't want to be soaking wet, either. Think forest floor-conditions, dappled lighting, natural humidity.

***Due to the unique nature of plants, the one we carefully choose for you won't look exactly like the photos. but it will be just as beautiful!
